10.1-Inch CrystalBrite Screen

The 10.1-inch screen has a WSVGA resolution (1024 x 600) and support for up a 262K color depth. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which uses shared video memory with the main memory. Acer's CrystalBrite display technology guarantees the best possible visual experience by preventing the diffusion of surrounding light and internal ray. Compared to normal TFT LCDs, Acer CrystalBrite technology is able to read color coordinates more accurately, thus minimizing distortion and creating high-fidelity colors in all environments.

Power-Sipping Processor

The Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and it uses just 2.5 watts of power--less than 1/10 of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor--for excellent battery management. This 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor also includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data).

5 out of 5 stars Great netbook, absolutely love it, touch pad not good   June 19, 2009

Got it from Wal Mart for 298 $. This is a great netbook

pros
- After uninstalling Google Toolbar and McAfee and other useless software came with the netbook, it is really fast. 1 GB is enough, if you do that cleanup.
- Thinner than D150 model, very light weight.
- keyboard is small still usable

cons
- touchpad isn't that good, gesture for scroll doesn't work always.
- screen is glossy, but usable. I prefer glossy screen, some people won't like it.

5 out of 5 stars Acer netbook matches its PR   July 12, 2009

Terrific product. For traveling, its size & weight is perfect. It has sufficient ram & disk size for my (non-gaming) needs, which is Internet use, taking notes in libraries, & writing. Character fonts are extremely sharp, & I'm pleased at the variable screen brightness controls, so that I can use it in dark interiors and outside on sunny days. I'm 100% satisfied.

5 out of 5 stars I love this computer   August 5, 2009

I spent a lot of time comparison shopping, especially between this computer and the HP with similiar specs. A lot of the comparison reviews rated this computer lower, saying the Acer keyboard is too small, but I have not found this to be the case. I do not have small (female)hands, and I have not had a problem adjusting to the smaller board. I went to Best Buy to put my hands on the HP keyboard and while I was there I compared the feel with other netbooks there with smaller boards, and I didn't see a big difference.

This computer is FAST and so light. I love it. When I first took it out of the box, I wasn't sure how to tell if the Wi-fi switch was on or off--the switch doesn't lock, and the signal at my house is very weak--but I figured it out when I got to the coffee shop where there is a good signal. I have not had any problems with this computer. I loaded Word on it a couple of days ago, and it is working great. The display is not as good as a full-size laptop. Sometimes it is a little dark, and this might bother someone who is looking for an excellent display--maybe someone who uses it for games or movies or something like that. Obviously, based on my previous statements about this computer, I don't mind the occasional darkness. The display is great for my purposes--word processing, internet work, email.

5 out of 5 stars Beyond Expectations   August 14, 2009

I have been looking at a netbook for a couple of years but just wasn't sure it was what I wanted. I decided to sell my mac and started looking again for a smaller laptop. My husband talked me out of it saying that my HP was fine and I didn't need it. Well to my surprise two days later a netbook arrived in the mail. Happy Birthday!
I love this netbook (I have the pink one). First thing I did when I pulled it out of the box was install a 2GB stick of RAM. Then I wiped the hard drive clean and did a dual boot with XP and Vista. (Don't forget to make your recovery discs!!) Getting the hard drive formatted took some hard work, and I had to use a linux install disk to get it wiped clean. But now it runs beautifully!
It runs Vista really well and doesn't make it hot or over work at all. I've really not used the XP size but imagine it runs smoother than Vista. I love everything about it. I have no complaints. I will be looking for a 6 cell battery to give me some more life. I think you just have to realize that you can be just as rough with these netbooks as an actual laptop.

Note: If you change the paritions and then try to use the recovery disks it will not work. The recovery disks are made to read the harddrive the way it was when factory install. I spent three days getting my netbook back up and running. I'd just stay away from the recovery disks all together. I'm now running Windows 7 and love it!

5 out of 5 stars Keyboard could be larger   August 31, 2009

This netbook is perfect for doing some work on a plane or in a coffee shop.
I haven't noticed performance differences with a full-size notebook when doing word-processing tasks or web browsing.

A couple of negative points:

- the keyboard could have been larger, like in a similar HP Mini 110 netbooks

- pictures in a browser and Windows viewers look stretched. Researching the issue I found that it's a problem with the aspect ratio of 1.78:1 instead on 1.7:1 in 10" netbooks.
